Privacy notice.
What we collect when you use asbestos.ie, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how to exercise your rights under the General Data Protection Regulation.
Who we are
asbestos.ie is published by S5 Ltd, a UK-incorporated company with registered address 20 Wenlock Road, London N1 7GU. For data-protection purposes, S5 Ltd is the data controller for personal data collected through this site.
For privacy queries, contact [email protected].
What we collect
When you submit the contact form on asbestos.ie, we collect the personal data you provide:
- Your name.
- Your email address.
- Your phone number (optional).
- Your county.
- The type of service you are enquiring about.
- The free-text description of your enquiry.
We do not use cookies for tracking, run advertising pixels, or operate a newsletter system. Server logs may record your IP address and browser user-agent for security and abuse-prevention purposes — these are retained for a short period and not used for marketing.
Why we collect it, and the lawful basis
The single purpose of collecting your data is to match your enquiry to a permit-holding asbestos contractor. The lawful basis is your consent, which you give by submitting the form. Submitting the form is voluntary; if you do not submit it, we collect no personal data.
You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us — see the Your rights section below.
Who we share it with
We share your enquiry with one contractor at a time — never multiple firms in competition. The contractor is selected on the basis of the work type, your location, and current capacity. Contractors that receive enquiries from us are required to hold a valid HSA permit (or be capable of obtaining one) for the work involved.
The contractor that receives your enquiry becomes a separate data controller for the purposes of providing you with a quote and any subsequent service relationship. They are bound by their own privacy obligations under GDPR.
We do not:
- Sell your data to any third party.
- Share your enquiry with multiple contractors simultaneously.
- Use your data for marketing or newsletter purposes.
- Pass your data to advertising networks or analytics providers.
Service providers we use
We use a small number of service providers to operate the site. These act as data processors under our instructions:
- Cloudflare — hosts the site (Cloudflare Pages) and routes form submissions. Cloudflare may retain technical logs for security purposes.
- uni.email — delivers the form-submission email to our inbox and to the matched contractor. The provider processes the message contents only to deliver them.
How long we keep it
We retain enquiry data only as long as needed:
- If you proceed with the matched contractor, we keep the matching record (your enquiry plus the contractor referred to) for 12 months for accounting and audit purposes.
- If you decline the quote or do not proceed, we close the enquiry and delete the record within 30 days.
- Email correspondence with us (for example, editorial corrections) may be kept longer where required for legal or business records.
Your rights under GDPR
You have the following rights in relation to your personal data:
- Right of access — to request a copy of the data we hold about you.
- Right to rectification — to correct inaccurate data.
- Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten") — to ask us to delete your data.
- Right to restrict processing — to limit what we do with your data.
- Right to data portability — to receive your data in a machine-readable format.
- Right to object — to object to certain processing.
- Right to withdraw consent at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
Complaints
If you are not satisfied with how we handle your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Irish Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie), which is the supervisory authority for data protection in Ireland.
